The St Andrews vineyard in Clare Valley goes back 125 years when two Scottish immigrants purchased the 323 acre farming property and turn it into vineyards and orchards, naming it after the patron saint of their homeland. In 1995 Taylors Estate bought the historic site and four years later they’d produced their first wines from this awesome site.
The highest quality fruit, aged 18 months in oak, this is one of the Clare Valley’s most iconic Cabernet labels. It’s big and rich in style with lashings of dark berry fruits and a “mint” characteristic you find in top notch Cabernets.
Scoring 91/100 with The Real Review’s Huon Hooke, he said “Deep, dense, dark red with a tinge of purple and a bouquet of tomato bush with back-up vanilla and chocolate. A very full-bodied cabernet with muscle and grip, young for its years and firm, with oak and skin tannins aplenty. Slight bitterness on the follow-through. A solid, slow-aging cabernet that will be long-lived and for my money, needs a bit more time in a dark place.”
A special wine that will comfortably cellar into 2030 and beyond!
