It’s 007-vino with Marlborough’s Spy Valley. Named after the neighbouring Waihopai spy bases (those two big golf ball shaped buildings) and while the secret agents inside those bases keep things pretty tight lipped the word is well and truly out about one of Marlborough’s best (or is that worst?) kept secrets, the Spy Valley Gewurztraminer.

Spy Valley make some pretty smart Marlborough Pinot but they consistently produce some absolutely cracking aromatic wines like this Gewurz, Riesling and of course SauvyB.

This Gewurztraminer (give-urz-tram-eener) takes the cake and it’s one of our favourite examples from Marlborough year in, year out. It’s an utterly delicious full bodied, oily style with spicy lush lychees with a honeyed sweetness – let the love affair begin!
