Shiraz Cabernet aged in Scotch whiskey barrels?! What started off as a crazy wine experiment back in 2012 has now become a regular in the Jacob’s Creek line up – Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel. And as the name suggests, there’s more than one barrel that helps to add more richness, texture and complex flavours.
What started with selected parcels of Shiraz and Cabernet fruit from Limestone Coast vineyards was first aged in traditional American oak barrels before being finished in aged Scotch whisky barrels!
A Gold medal winner at the New World Wine Awards 2022 – the judges said “Here, more is more. Matured in traditional oak barrels, then finished in whisky casks for extra oomph and dimension, it’s seductively appealing with blackberry, mocha, hazelnut and cedar notes. The plush palate offers velvety texture, making it sumptuous and moreish. Meltingly delicious sticky pork ribs or slow-braised beef brisket would be hugely enhanced by this opulent red.”
