Now here’s a Marlborough Sauvy that’s been flying high over the past couple of years. And not just ‘cos it’s named after the New Zealand falcon.
The previous vintage went nuts taking out Gold medals at two of the biggest wine shows on the circuit. Now the 2021 has been released and it’s circling already!
The Falconhead is the endangered NZ bird of prey, star of the $20 bill and occasional visitor to the vineyard! It’s produced by the crew that formerly owned Morton Estate. You might catch the odd one flying around their vineyards or stopping for a bite to eat at one of their vineyard feeding stations. After all, not only does the falcon look mighty impressive at up to 200 kilometres per hour, it also plays a key role in pest control for the vineyard!
This is a delicious mouthful of lush, tropical fruit flavours with a refreshing, long finish. Not a style that over does it with the zingy, acidity (which we definitely prefer) – we reckon at this killer price the Falconhead might just be your go-to Sauvy for summer.
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
