Domaine Fond Croze Cotes-du-Rhone

It doesn’t matter who you are – when Robert Parker (one of the biggest names in the world of wine) drops your name you can expect the phone to start ringing! Domaine Fond Croze, in the southern part of the Rhone Valley in France. caught the eye of Parker a few years back who said “‘This top-notch estate typifies what is happening in the southern Rhone with so many properties breaking away from selling their wines to cooperatives, and a younger generation beginning to estate bottle.”

A family owned vineyard that’s been slogging away for three generations now but up until 1997 they were selling their grapes off to the big French co-operatives – the Long family knocked that on the head and decided to start bottling their own stuff. Clearly they’ve made the right move!

Produced from vines that are 35-40 years old this traditional Rhone Valley blend is Grenache (70%) and Syrah (30%). Medium bodied, juicy and rich with dark black fruits and licorice flavours. Pair it with grilled red meats, game dishes or the after dinner cheese board.
