Named after a widow (‘Veuve’ in French) in the village of Vernay who helped French boffin Eugène Charmat get his bubbly business off the ground. Charmat was the bloke who invented the cuve close (sealed vats) method of producing sparkling wine, commonly used today.
A dry, fresh and lively style – it’s a great option for that upcoming function, party or wedding bubbles when you’ve got a budget to stick. And it doesn’t just look the part, pour a flute for even the snobbiest of wine drinkers and they’ll swear you splashed out way more.
