It’s amazing what winning “Best Chardonnay in the World” can do for your reputation – which is what these guys did back at 1997’s International Wine Challenge in London. They’ve never looked back since.
This is what some might call their entry-level Chardonnay – a good, honest example of Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay at an everyday affordable price. But hey, if you want to kick things up a gear keep an eye out for their Black Label Gimblett Gravels Chardonnay (usually available right here in our online store).
Using some fruit from the Gimblett Gravels and other sub regions around The Bay, this is a style the Trinity Hill crew describe as “A delicious Chardonnay of richness and finesse that can enjoyed on its own or matched with food. Try with rich seafood dishes or roast chicken.”
From a beauty of a 2021 vintage this scored 4 1/2 Stars with critic Michael Cooper. Coops called it a “mouthfilling wine, with rich, vibrant stonefruit flavours, slightly toasty and mealy notes adding complexity, fresh acidity, and a crisp, fully dry finish.”
