Tohu (pronounced tor-who) are Aotearoa’s first Maori owned wine company. The label features the famous New Zealand Koru, that iconic symbol slapped on the side of every plane in the national Air NZ fleet.
From vineyard sites in Marlborough’s world famous Awatere Valley. This 2021 vintage is a real beauty and is packing far more complexity than you’d expect for a Pinot at this price.
That’s backed by an awesome score of 93/100 with Master of Wine Bob Campbell for The Real Review. Bob also selected it as a Top Ranking Pinot Noir and a Top Value Award winner. He said “Dense, bright pinot noir with boysenberry, dark berry/cherry, chocolate, liquorice, dried herb and spicy oak flavours. Intense, structured wine with obvious cellaring potential. From an excellent vintage.”
Bob also selected it was his No.1 “Top Red” for August 2023! Sheesh, not bad going for a Pinot a little over $20!
A richly textured Pinot packing a heap of red and dark berry fruit flavours and a touch of spice. If it’s kai time this is the red to enjoy with a cut of good old New Zealand lamb!
