Big, fat, buttery, oaky Californian Chardonnay is on fire these days! Say hello to yet another. Matchbook Old Head Californian Chardonnay! But these guys are taking it to the next level – and we’re not just talkin’ about the wine!
Seriously, the Giguiere brothers (from the family who owns Matchbook wines) were known pyromaniacs back in the 50s and 60s – even setting fire to the family wheat fields. An hour long stay behind bars (imposed by Dad) didn’t put them off either. Uncontrolled blazes, rockets being launched into the sky and frequent calls to the local fire department.
To this day the brothers still look at the Matchbook label and reminisce about their dear old pyro-mad days!
From the Dunnigan Hills in California, USA comes this big, fat, buttery number all produced from estate owned vineyards using “Old Heads”, oak barrels used from a previous vintage.
