Dog Point Pinot Noir is one of NZ’s premier Pinots from Marlborough and the wine is made by the very talented ex-Cloudy Bay duo James Healy and Ivan Sutherland. As wine writer Bob Campbell puts it “these boys really know their stuff“.
These guys are a class outfit. They make just four wines and year in, year out every vintage hits the mark. Probably best known for their Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, but their Pinot Noir takes on Marlborough’s best any day.
A single vineyard wine, hand picked fruit, aged for 18 months in French oak. An elegant Pinot full of red berries, cherries and spice.
Master of Wine Bob Campbell has never rated this wine below 95/100 dating back to 2005! Wow, that’s impressive right? In his latest review for this 2020 vintage Bob said “Tantalisingly aromatic wine with a strong floral/red rose/violet influence. More fruit-focused on the palate with juicy plum, cassis and blackcurrant flavours. Deliciously drinkable wine with cellaring potential. Very seductive. “
