A sparkling for those special occasions.
Daniel Le Brun Blanc de Blancs Methode Traditionelle
2016, Marlborough New Zealand
Champagne quality sparkling (Methode Traditionelle) made in Marlborough by Le Brun
"Delicious, tantalising sparkling wine with lemon, cream, toast and baguette crust. The flavours are beautifully integrated." (Bob Campbell MW)
Blanc de Blancs - made 100% with Chardonnay grapes
One of the pioneers of the Marlborough sparkling wine scene – the story’s a bit long-winded but the bottom line is this is a fizz that’s won more than enough gongs over the years to prove it’s better than some mid-priced Champagne you see on the market!
Daniel Le Brun was a Frenchman who moved to Marlborough in the 80s and used his know-how to produce Champagne-style sparkling wine (“Methode Traditionelle”). The company was then sold to beer, wine and spirit giants Lion – while the man himself left to start his own operation, No.1 Family Estate.
The Le Brun name is still strong today and flies the flag loud and proud for Methode in Marlborough. A consistently classy label that over delivers for the money.
Produced entirely from Chardonnay grapes (“Blanc de Blancs”) from the 2016 vintage. This is classy, complex, richly textured Marlborough fizz that’s had lees aging, a technique winemakers use to add richness, flavour and aroma. This is a bubbles for special occasions!
