Cruise to the top of Hawke’s Bay Te Mata peak and (funnily enough) you’ll be able to spot Te Mata estate. It’s the home of one of NZ’s flagship Bordeaux reds, Te Mata Coleraine! t
But if $120 a bottle stretches the purse strings a bit far there’s no shame in hooking into their Te Mata Estate Merlot Cabernets . It’s their “Estate” range meaning all the fruit comes grown on their estate owned vineyards, produced and bottled right there on site.
This label is their number one selling wine at cellar door, it’s not hard to see why! The final blend is 54% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc. Lovely soft, rich, ripe fruit flavours that make it the perfect bottle to whip out for the Sunday lamb roast.
