It’s not a state in the USA made by a tobacco giant – but it is one of the household wine names in this country with bottles under the Montana name sitting on shelves since the 1940s when the first bottle was produced from vineyards in west Auckland’s Waitakere Ranges.

Formerly known as Montana Wines up until the early 2000s when they had a name change to Brancott Estate – to avoid confusion with same name US state (Montana) and even confusion with the cigarette smoking cowboy (Marlboro).

These days the Montana name is only seen on New Zealand shelves and this Montana Reserve Pinot Noir from the 2021 vintage was produced using fruit from the Waipara in north Canterbury.

A style of Pinot that doesn’t take itself too seriously. This is bright, juicy, easy drinking Pinot with red berry fruit flavours and a smooth finish.
