The secret’s in the name. Good quality fruit, great winemaking know-how and the secret power of…stones? Stoneleigh Chardonnay
Yep, that’s right. Sunstones that used to form the river bed of an ancient river in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley are now used by the crew at Stoneleigh to radiate the daytime heat directly onto the vines, making them work hard to produce grapes full of crisp, vibrant flavour.
This is a label that rarely fails to deliver – that’s why Kiwi wine critic Michael Cooper says “this wine is always enjoyable and good value on special“.
Meanwhile Master of Wine Bob Campbell scored it 88/100 and gave it a Top Value Award. Bob said “Light, fresh chardonnay with white peach, grapefruit, vanilla and subtle oak flavours. Soft and seamless wine with a silken texture and a refreshingly dry finish. Offers value at this price ($17)”
A peaches ‘n’ cream, extremely easy drinking style Chardonnay that really over delivers for the money. Pair this guy with white meats like chicken and pork, or seafood and vegetarian dishes.
