This is the highly popular Louis Bouillot Perle de Vigne Cremant de Bourgogne and if you need to know just one thing about Cremant sparkling wine it’s like Champagne on a shoestring budget.

Produced in eight Cremant appellations around France (this one is from Burgundy) the rules and regulations for Cremant production are only slightly less as strict as those in the Champagne region. These include things like mandatory hand harvested grapes, whole bunch pressed and no more than 100 litres of juice per 150kg of grapes.

Winning 4 1/2 Stars in Cuisine magazine’s annual fizz tasting in 2022, the judges said “Pale gold in the glass with stone fruit aromas on the nose and a vibrant bead. The foaming mousse is mouth filling and creamy against soft fruit flavours on the nicely weighted palate with a lovely yeasty richness with a long honeyed and toasty finish.”
