Brancott Estate (you might remember them as Montana wines back in the 80s or 90s) happily brag that they were the first ones to plant Sauvignon Blanc vines in Marlborough back in 1975. So, they say, they’ve learnt a trick or two in their time since then.
The first and these days one of the biggest. But big or not, Brancott are still regulars in the ‘World’s Most Admired Wine Brands’ list of Drinks International magazine and regularly pump out wines offering great value, no matter which label or price point.
For a supposedly entry level, budget priced Pinot Gris this is packing plenty of bang for your buck. Using fruit from Marlborough and other east coast regions this is a juicy, off-dry style Pinot Gris with loads of lush, stone fruit flavours. It’s an absolute crowd pleasing Pinot Gris!
Scoring 86/100 and a Top Value Award with The Real Review’s Bob Campbell, who called it “Light, fresh, tangy wine with tree fruit, pear, green apple and honeysuckle flavours. A hint of initial sweetness is balanced by crisp acidity to give a dry(ish) finish. Good value at this price ($14)”
